As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year marked by innovation, recognition, and key milestones that have propelled 3lbXR to new heights in spatial computing. From significant partnerships to global recognition, this year has been a transformative chapter for our team and the industry at large.
We began 2024 with the Startup Wise Guys Pre-Revenue Accelerator, an invaluable opportunity to refine our strategy and vision. The mentorship and resources from this program gave us a powerful foundation to expand our presence in a fast-changing XR landscape. Shortly after, we helped launch the XR Women Spatial Computing Business Showcase, a pivotal event highlighting diverse voices in XR and underscoring our commitment to inclusivity and innovation.

February marked GroKit Core’s competitive debut at the IVRHA Hackathon. Its performance exceeded expectations, signaling the platform’s potential to become a cornerstone of spatial computing. GroKit Core’s momentum continued as it gained recognition in Dominique Wu’s book, Spatial Design: Breaking the 2D Paradigm — a milestone validating our team’s vision and dedication.
In March, CEO Robin represented 3lbXR at the IVRHA Conference, further elevating our presence in the XR community. We joined our industry friends and partners at the Poly Awards. A standout moment arrived when Robin and Cordelia shared insights on XR integration in game design at GDC, engaging developers and solidifying 3lbs position at the forefront of XR and gaming innovation.

At the Meta Presence Platform NY Hackathon in April, our team won the Utility Category with Home Care Helper, an XR solution aimed at creating real-world impact. This achievement reflected our mission: leveraging technology to address challenges and improve lives.
Summer brought further milestones. At AWE 2024, Robin joined an all-start panel on mixed reality game design, sharing our innovative approach. 3lbXR’s booth showcased GroKit Core to a captivated audience, and we became finalists in the AWE Pitch Competition. The highlight? Winning the Auggie Award for Best Indie Creator of the Year—a moment of celebration for our team’s relentless hard work.

In August, Robin attended Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, with support from WIGI. This global event introduced 3lbXR to international audiences and provided invaluable opportunities to collaborate with XR and gaming leaders worldwide.
September we were invited to Meta Connect, where we got first access to the huge leaps in hardware awaiting our industry. We also released a case study highlighting our impactful work with Santa Clara and reaffirmed our commitment to social impact by supporting the Cancer Blaster initiative at the CCRF.
In October, GroKit Core took a major step forward with the launch of its AI Module, making AI more accessible to XR developers. Concurrently, our participation in the IVRHA demo tours introduced GroKit Core to healthcare companies eager to integrate XR into their operations.
November marked a pivotal moment with the debut of the GroKit Core Open Beta. Opening the platform to a broader audience allowed us to gather invaluable feedback, further refining our solutions. The enthusiastic reception validated our progress and set the stage for what’s to come. We closed out the month with news that GroKit Core is a finalist for the 2025 Aurea Awards, held in January at Europa Park.
Closing out the year, Robin spoke at Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media, and Design, inspiring the next generation of XR innovators. This opportunity to give back was a fitting end to a transformative year.
From our accelerator beginnings to global stages and groundbreaking milestones, 2024 has been a year of growth and achievement for 3lbXR. GroKit Core continues to evolve as a key platform driving innovation, social impact, and real-world solutions in spatial computing.
As we look toward 2025, the possibilities are endless. 3lbXR is poised to continue pushing boundaries, and we’re excited to bring our partners, supporters, and the XR community along for the ride. Thank you for being part of our journey—the best is yet to come!
